Recommendation List - Solving Without Sorry Workshop by Ken Clark
Aug 20, 2025Thanks for attending Ken's "Solving Without Sorry" workshop!
Here's the entire list of book and products that come up frequently in the workshop that Ken HIGHLY recommends.
Books:
The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande - Core reading for building a business and teams that consistently execute without missing key steps.
Leadership and Self-Deception by The Arbinger Institute - Crucial gut check and wake up call for leaders about how their good intentions don't prevent them from making a problem worse.
An Everyone Culture: Becoming a Deliberately Developmental Organization - One of my favorite reads on developing a company culture that incentivizes failing and learning in front of the crowd.
Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek - Servant leadership at its best. This book embraces Ken's notion of "leader means you're at the front of the line" and "be the dork and show them that you're willing to make yourself uncomfortable to generate different outcomes."
Essentialism - Greg McKeown - One of my most important reads as an entrepreneur and someone who has fought all the tug of wars that occur within a rapidly growing, constantly pivoting company.
Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott - Absolute must read for anyone who has to have tough conversations as part of their job.
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown - Every human should read this book. Period. If you're looking for a great graduation gift for a high school or college student, give them this with a hand written note from you in the inside cover and a $50 bill to use as a bookmark. :)
Dare to Lead by Brene Brown - Amazing application of Brene Brown's principles to her own company and coming to terms with her own blindspots and shortcomings as the leader of her brand.
The Passionate Marriage by Dr. David Schnarch - A must read for anyone who wants a healthier romantic relationship. It's focused on the physical and intimate aspects of a relationship (sex), but also treats these as a microcosm for all struggles a couple experiences. His concepts of "differentiation versus fusion" are core to all the couples and family therapy I provide.
Hold Me Tight by Sue Johnson - Excellent book from one of the founders of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) on how to care for your partner's hurts, fears and needs.
The Go Giver - One of my favorite easy reads in a long time. Short enough to finish on a plane ride. I've given this to every one of my leadership team and asked them to figure out how to apply it to our company,
Consolations by David Whyte - A recent gift I received from a friend. One of the single best books of reflections (2-3 pages each) that I've read in a long time. Perfect to keep on your desk or nightstand for when you need a reboot or pick me up. Start with the chapter on "ambition."
